“Be Still” was written for the Benedictine College Service of Lessons and Carols in 2018. The text comes rom 1 Samuel 12:16, Isaiah 40:31-32, Psalm 46:10. Although there is divisi in all parts, the easy voice leading makes the piece very singable.
Text: Be still, for He is coming. Therefore take your stand and see this great thing the Lord will do before your eyes. Those who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength, they shall mount up with wings like eagles. They shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint. Those who wait for the Lord, be still. Be still and know I am God.
